This is a big update, I know… but I hope you’ll take the time to read my latest update in its entirety, as some of this stuff is pretty important! ☺
New Career, New Challenges.
Friday was my last day with HIP Communications & Accelerated Connections.
Today, Monday Jan 21, I begin my new challenge as head of Sales and Business Development with an up and coming wireless hotspot and VoIP service provider known as Point of Presence Technologies (PofP).
Point of Presence is headquartered in Toronto, with a satellite office in Vancouver, BC. PofP specializes in managed wireless hotspot services for businesses, hotel chains and universities across Canada.
PofP’s latest success was the deployment of VoIP & Internet services for an 800-student residence at St. Thomas University in Frederiction, NB. The solution enables quick turn-up of services at the start of the school year and provides students with unlimited Canada-wide long distance calling.
I am very excited to be a part of the Point of Presence team, and will use all of my 15 years of Internet technology and related experience to ensure the organization exceeds our 2008 goals.
Stuff That Just Makes You Feel Good! Try It!
In addition to this significant change in my professional life, I am also proud to report that I’m making positive changes in the lives of others too! I have recently been appointed to the position of Co-Chair on the Board of Directors for the Little Geeks Foundation.
My friend, the tenacious Andy Walker, launched the Little Geeks Foundation to provide refurbished computer equipment and Internet access to underprivileged children living in the GTA.
It was a warming feeling during the 2007 holiday season to receive the many gracious donations of our supporters and we raised almost $12,000 to fund our operations going into 2008. Now, with our recent charity status acquisition, we’re on track to reach our goal of putting computers in the homes of 1,000 GTA families this year. Not an easy task, but with the support I’ve seen to date, I know we’re going to make it happen.
Right now we’re looking for donations to continue to fund operations, and pay for Internet access at each home. We also have some events coming up soon, so if you live in Toronto and can volunteer some time that would be fantastic.
Personal Stuff
In March 2007, Heather and I take possession of our first home together. It’s newly renovated home located in the Danforth/Main area in Toronto, directly across from Mr. Cliff Feltham (thanks for scouting us the house, Cliffy). We’re looking forward to finally being a part of a quiet neighbourhood and having a backyard where we can barbecue dead cow – often.

Wow! Sounds great Ben.
Hey Buddy ….
I heard about your move last weekend. Can’t say I saw it coming, but a man with your skill-set is certainly headed for great things. Goodluck, my friend, and very best wishes.
