SHAMBA Nights: Little Geeks Fundraiser a Success!

by Ben Lucier on August 1, 2007

Little Geeks had a successful night last evening with over 100 people in attendance.  The fundraiser was made possible by SHAMBA, a philanthropic foundation initiated by Globalive Communications Corp., a Toronto based provider of telecommunications solutions that takes charity seriously by integrating philanthropy at its core.Anthony Lacavera, Globalive’s founder and CEO, spoke about his hope that SHAMBA, a Swahili word meaning “farm” will create an environment within Globalive’s home at 48 Yonge Street where “individuals will invest their time and money in a good time – and a good cause.” Globalive’s contemporary office space, including its super cool patio terrace will serve as a meeting place for SHAMBA Nights events, free of charge to the charitable organizations.Andy Walker (pictured left with microphone), spoke about the role Little Geeks plays in the lives of underprivileged children and the importance technology plays in the lives of young people. He also spoke of his ever-expanding vision for Little Geeks and although efforts are currently focused in Toronto, the endgame will be to put technology in the hands of children around the world. In addition to Little Geeks, SHAMBA has already booked upcoming events for Invest in Kids, POGO and Habitat for Humanity.
